Hold onto your sunhats, cruise lovers, the future of holidaying at sea has officially arrived, and it goes by the name MSC World America. Currently making waves on her fabulous inaugural sailing, this extraordinary ship is already turning heads. And, our very own Phil and Paula Nuttall are onboard, sipping cocktails and living their best cruise lives. If ever there was a time for ship envy, this is it.
But let’s dive right in, because MSC World America is not your average mega ship. She’s more like a floating city, complete with sky-high thrills, fine dining, lush relaxation spaces, and incredible design on every deck. And if you think it’s all just for the kids, think again. This beauty has been meticulously crafted with grown-up cruisers in mind, too.
First Impressions
From the moment you step onboard, MSC World America hits you with a wave of “am I actually at sea?” wonder. We’re talking sleek, stylish interiors that rival any luxury hotel, and a striking World Promenade with a wraparound LED dome ceiling that lights up with immersive digital shows. Perfect for a pre-dinner wander and a sneaky photo op.
At over 330 metres long, this floating marvel is packed to the rails with 20 decks of pure indulgence and innovation. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, a spa-dweller, or somewhere in between, there’s a corner of the ship just waiting to become your happy place.
Standing outside and looking at the size of the ship — wow, the sheer size of it was amazing. Then, when you get onboard it wasn’t as overwhelming as it may seem, it amazed us both.
Adults-Only Bliss – Find Your Sanctuary
Let’s address the elephant in the buffet — yes, MSC World America is family-friendly. BUT (and it’s a big but), there are plenty of blissful adults-only escapes, and they are utterly dreamy.
Zen Pool Area – Tucked away at the aft with sweeping ocean views, this serene sunbathing spot is strictly adults-only. Think plush loungers, quiet vibes, and waiter service with a smile. Heaven.
The Yacht Club – For those seeking a more exclusive experience, the MSC Yacht Club is an adults’ paradise. Private lounges, dedicated butler service, priority everything, and a chic sundeck complete with whirlpools. It’s like sailing in your own VIP bubble.
MSC Yacht Club is like a private members club and feels really exclusive, there was a sense of serenity as soon as you stepped inside. I could not recommend this anymore.
Champagne Bar & Mixology Lounge – These elegant bars are perfect for a sophisticated tipple before dinner — or after. Or both. We’re not judging.
We loved the Fizz Champagne Bar with the balcony attached, so you can sip champagne while watching the sunset or under the stars. It all just felt so magical.
MSC Aurea Spa – If you crave peace and pampering, the spa delivers in spades. From hydrotherapy to Balinese massages, it’s a one-way ticket to ultimate relaxation.
So no, it’s not all water slides and mini discos (although there are those, too). MSC has cleverly curated spaces where adults can recharge, reconnect and indulge, while still enjoying the buzz of a bigger ship.
Dining Across the Globe
Let’s talk about the food. Oh, the food. With 13 dining venues and more bars than you can shake a martini at, MSC World America is a feast for the senses.
Whether it’s an elegant sit-down affair at The Butcher’s Cut steakhouse, sushi at Kaito Teppanyaki, or grazing through international bites at the buffet, every meal is an adventure. Just leave room for gelato. Always leave room for gelato.
We haven’t had the opportunity to try them all yet, but Paxos — the Greek restaurant — looks like it could be a fabulous addition.
Entertainment: Go Big or Go Home
The entertainment onboard is nothing short of spectacular for the 8th biggest cruise ship in the world. Think Vegas meets West End, with themed shows, immersive tech, and even rollerblading acrobats at the World Theatre.
Feeling lucky? Head to the Casino, where the lights twinkle and the cocktails flow. Or, if you fancy a cinematic escape, pop into the IMAX cinema — popcorn optional, but encouraged.
The best part of MSC World America, it is of course the brand new MSC Cliffhanger.
It was our favourite part of this incredible ship, the thrill you get swinging at 50 metres above the ocean’s surface with adrenaline-pumping excitement.
Island Life – Thoughts on Ocean Cay
Let’s not forget about Ocean Cay, MSC’s private island paradise.
Incredible, because it absolutely delivers on its promise of sustainability — no gimmicks, no watermarks… just a great opportunity to spend time in a marine conservation working environment. And it’s FREE — MSC hasn’t monetised this. Only exception is water equipment hire.
For those travelling Yacht Club style:
If you are a Yacht Club guest, then you just like onboard this incredible ship, you have your own area on the Cay.
Who’s This Ship For?
Honestly? Just about everyone.
There are so many facilities and accommodation options that she’ll appeal to a very wide audience — from luxury to wellness to families and romantics. There really is something for everyone, including environmentalists who want to learn more about life at Ocean Cay.
With such variety onboard, from high-energy activities to quiet sophistication, MSC has found a way to balance bold fun with understated luxury.
Final Thoughts from Phil & Paula
