Celebrations

The anticipation is palpable and the excitement electric as Cunard announce the naming ceremony of it’s newest ship, Queen Anne. Also preparing to embark on her maiden voyage on May 3rd, marking the beginning of a remarkable inaugural season.

This sold-out voyage promises a spectacular start, with a lineup of entertainment and celebratory moments meticulously planned to honour Cunard’s illustrious tradition of magnificent sailings.

Just a few weeks later, on May 24th, Queen Anne sets sail again, this time embarking on The British Isles Festival Voyage. A 14-night journey from Southampton that includes her official naming ceremony.

As the sun rises on June 3rd, in Cunard’s spiritual home of Liverpool, another ceremony is to take place and is slated to be a truly unforgettable event.

The world’s media will gather eagerly at Liverpool Pier Head, awaiting Queen Anne’s majestic entrance into the Mersey. The air will be charged with anticipation, the atmosphere alive with activity as the city prepares for a dazzling ceremony set to start from 4 pm.

Who will be there?

Hosting this extraordinary event are the beloved TV personalities Emma and Matt Willis, adding their charm and charisma to the festivities. Joining them will be the distinguished Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, promising the audience a unique and unforgettable performance.

As the evening progresses, the celebrations show no signs of slowing down. Special guests will take the stage, ensuring that the waterfront audience is kept enthralled until the grand finale, a sail-away party that promises to be one for the ages.

Italian singer Andrea Bocelli will be performing at the naming ceremony. The classical singer said it was “an honour” to be performing. Especially on the day the 113,000-tonne ship sailed into the city.

For those lucky enough to be sailing on The British Isles Festival Voyage, there will be a dedicated viewing area ashore, providing the perfect vantage point to witness the historic naming ceremony.

Alternatively, guests can choose to join in the celebrations onboard, as the event is broadcast live throughout the ship, ensuring that no one misses out on the excitement.

On board

Cunard has also announced an impressive lineup of special guests for the voyage, including legendary musician Midge Ure and West End/Broadway star Rachel Tucker, who will be performing live.

Additionally, former World Champion Boxer Frank Bruno and Olivier award-winning actress Celia Imrie will be hosting captivating Insight talks, offering guests a deeper understanding of the rich heritage and natural wonders of the British Isles.

The festivities continue the day after Queen Anne’s naming ceremony with a dazzling celebration dinner, providing guests with yet another opportunity to commemorate this historic occasion in style.
