The Limitless Voyage with Virgin Voyages on Scarlet Lady
Virgin Voyages worked alongside Jennifer Lopez, the Chief Entertainment & Lifestyle Officer, to curate an unforgettable, one-time voyage sailing out of Miami from April 14th to the 19th. This sailing was celebrating fantastic women in business and our Director at The Travel Village Group, Paula Nuttall, was onboard.
This sailing has been exclusively designed with JLo-inspired programming for a once-in-a-lifetime trip on the seas. Sailing aboard Scarlet Lady from Miami calling at Puerto Plata and Bimini with two days at sea, it traverses the Caribbean Sea for five nights on the renowned Dominican Daze itinerary.
There was even an appearance from the man himself, Richard Branson, who spent some time chatting with Paula and her fellow Limitless guests.
Paula’s Trip
My journey was incredible from start to finish, from flying first class with Delta Airlines with a glass of champagne to checking into the ‘Goodtime Hotel’ owned by Pharrell Williams. The large pods on the flight made the almost 9 hour flight go by really quickly, plus the staff and food were amazing. The Goodtime Hotel had a cool vibe with regular pool parties, a great location and the most amazing food. The deep fried sprouts were delicious!
The highlight of the trip was yet to come, and we were super excited to embark Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady. Following a very smooth check-in at Miami Port, we were onboard. The team makes you feel welcome, ‘almost at home’. Even the smell is welcoming, like the best spa you have ever been to. In the background there’s a cool vibe of live music throughout the ship. Your senses are alive, re-awakened and excited for the journey ahead.
One of the unique features of Scarlet Lady is its focus on sustainability, with a commitment to minimising its environmental impact through the use of energy-efficient technology and sustainable materials.
Puerta Playa
Puerta Plata is the epitome of geographical duality. Relax on the white sand beaches of Playa Dorada or take a hike through the jungle to explore the 27 waterfalls of Damajagua and whiz down on natural slides.
Docking in Puerto Plata our choice of excursions was the “Re Papel ”, a local co-op set up by women who recycles paper making gifts, books and jewellery to resell. Income is shared between families helping children to go to school and for those who are vulnerable. No gimmicks and no luxury, a community of strong inspirational women who recycle everyday to help feed their families. A big thank you to Virgin Voyages for offering this as an excursion, it was humbling and one we would definitely like to revisit. Of course, if you wanted to jump off waterfalls, swim with stingrays or learn to surf that was also an option.
Bimini
There’s no experience quite like arriving to the see-through waters of Bimini. A private slice of paradise in the Bahamas. Grab a drink at The Beach Club at Bimini before heading. back to Miami.
Onboard the Scarlet Lady
Back onboard the choice is endless, it’s fine dining at sea and after five days, we really wished we were onboard for a little longer. The choice of bars, the nightlife, the live music, Scarlet Night (wear a splash of red), it’s all part of a feeling, a happy place, a place you do not want to leave and cannot wait to revisit. Onboard Virgin Voyages is a place where you can be you, and simply come as you are
Getting on-board I felt tired and needed a bit of “me” time. The holistic and wellbeing programme is superb and included! There’s a vast choice of classes included in the cost of your voyage, from the very fun 80’s fitness classes to yoga and meditation. The spa was also fabulous, at a small charge and had a mud spa, quartz warm beds, cold plunge pool, salt steam room, the only sauna at sea with a window and endless beauty treatments.
Whatever you want from your cruise holiday, Virgin Voyages has it all…
At night there’s an air of excitement, a choice of ten quality eating venues, the many bars, the live music, the casino, the night club and not forgetting the incredible unique and energetic shows, there really is something for everyone.
With over 38 itineraries, over 100 ports, 4 continents and a choice of exciting destinations, this is not only about where you go but what you experience onboard and how you feel recharged when you sadly disembark.
Thank you Virgin Voyages and I cannot wait to feel part of your family onboard again soon.
