When it comes to luxury cruises, travellers can expect nothing but the best, from world-class cuisine to high-end amenities. One of the amenities that has become increasingly important in recent years is access to WiFi. In today’s world, staying connected is more important than ever, even when on holiday.
Is WiFi included on luxury cruises?
Most luxury cruises offer a complimentary basic WiFi package which can often be upgraded if you wish to do so.
Whilst some luxury cruise lines do include WiFi in their fares, others may charge for it separately or only offer it in certain areas of the ship. For example, Regent Seven Seas Cruises includes free unlimited WiFi throughout its ships. While Silversea Cruises offers free Wi-Fi for all passengers, but with limited data usage.
Speed & Reliability
It’s important to note that even if WiFi is included on a luxury cruise, the speed and reliability may not be the same as what passengers are used to on land. Cruising through remote areas can make it difficult for signals to reach the ship. This therefor results in slower speeds and potential disconnections. Additionally, the number of passengers onboard can impact the speed and reliability of the WiFi as well.
Despite potential limitations, having access to WiFi on a luxury cruise can be beneficial for a number of reasons. It allows passengers to stay in touch with loved ones back home, check in on work if necessary, and share photos on social media.
Many luxury cruise lines offer WiFi as a standard amenity. It’s important for travellers to research their options ahead of time and understand that while Wi-Fi can be a valuable addition to a cruise, the speeds and reliability may not be the same as what they’re used to on land.
