Embark on a journey aboard Virgin Voyages Resilient Lady with Leah, one of our travel experts. In just four days, Leah experienced everything from gourmet dining and world class entertainment to unforgettable moments ashore. Leah’s adventure has redefined her cruising experience.

Day 1

We boarded Virgin Voyages Resilient Lady in Portsmouth, and from the moment we set foot on the ship, it was clear this was going to be an unforgettable experience. With 2,600 passengers embarking with ease, the boarding process was impressively efficient, and we were settled into our cabin in no time.

The room was incredibly spacious and inviting, complete with Virgin’s famous red hammock on the balcony and an iPad to control every aspect of the room. It felt like a luxurious haven, solidifying our excitement for the next four nights aboard this stunning ship.

After a quick outfit change, we started exploring the ship. Our first stop? The Wake, the steak and seafood restaurant we had booked for dinner. On the way, we stumbled upon The Dock, a tapas bar where we treated ourselves to some sangria and continued to explore the ship’s many features. From the coffee shop to the juice bar and the beach-style club at the back, every corner was more exciting than the last.

Dinner at The Wake was a true highlight. Our server, Randy, was incredibly accommodating, especially when it came to my shellfish allergy. We shared a selection of dishes, each more delicious than the last, with the fillet steak standing out as the absolute star of the meal. Cooked to perfection and paired with fries, garlic mushrooms, and twice cooked potatoes. Dessert was just as impressive, with a cheesecake that cracked open to reveal mascarpone and biscuit.

That evening, we attended the sail-away party, complete with free champagne and an incredible atmosphere. Afterward, we wandered into the Red Room, where we discovered an immersive performance called Persephone. While the first few scenes left us confused (and we weren’t the only ones!), the story eventually unfolded into a show that felt like a true Broadway experience, complete with acrobats and aerial performers.

We ended our night with cocktails at On the Rocks while enjoying live music. Although the PJ party kicked off at 11 pm, the excitement of the day (and our journey from Blackpool) left us ready for bed.

Day 2

The next morning, we headed to The Galley for breakfast. The variety was overwhelming, in the best way! From full English breakfasts to eggs benedict, avocado toast, and pastries, they had it all. After fueling up, we spent the afternoon exploring Amsterdam, taking in the sights of this charming city.

In the evening, we dined at Extra Virgin, the Italian restaurant on board. The service was impeccable, and the affogato cart stole the show, allowing us to choose our ice cream, coffee, spirit, and toppings. A true Italian delight. Later, we returned to On the Rocks for cocktails and live music, embracing the ship’s lively vibe.

Day three

Day three brought one of my favourite parts of the cruise, room service. The fact that it’s free when you order a coffee or fresh juice made it a no brainer for us. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, pastries, and, of course, coffee, all delivered to our room at the perfect time. It was the ultimate lazy morning.

Later, we took a canal cruise around Amsterdam, soaking in the city’s beauty before heading back to the ship for Scarlet Night. This is the event of the cruise, where everyone dresses in red and parties all night. But first, we had dinner at Gunbae, the Korean barbecue restaurant with a fun twist. The meal began with a drinking game hosted by our servers, and the food was cooked right at our table. The staff were again attentive to my shellfish allergy, preparing the shellfish separately for the rest of the table while I enjoyed delicious beef and chicken.

That night, we joined the Scarlet Night party by the pool, where the entertainment team brought the energy, dancing and eventually jumping into the pool, splashing everyone around them. The drinks flowed, and the party carried on into the early hours of the morning at The Manor nightclub. It was a night to remember!

Day 4

Our final day at sea was a bit more relaxed (thanks to some sore heads from the previous night’s festivities). We spent the day lounging at The Dock, soaking up the sun, enjoying pizza and tapas, and sipping strawberry daiquiris as we passed the White Cliffs of Dover. In the evening, we dined at Pink Agave, the Mexican restaurant that surprised us with its delicious dishes and impeccable service. The ribeye was a standout, and the service made the meal even more special.

We wrapped up our final night in the Red Room, where we caught Miss Behave, a hilariously rude and unapologetic show that had us laughing from start to finish. It was the perfect end to an extraordinary trip.

In just four nights, Virgin Voyages Resilient Lady exceeded all of my expectations. From the exceptional dining experiences to the top notch entertainment and incredible service, Virgin Voyages has truly perfected the art of cruising. We’re already planning our next adventure!
