We had the amazing opportunity of visiting Silversea’s Silver Shadow in Liverpool this week, taking our valued clients along with us. In a world filled with extraordinary experiences, Silversea’s Silver Shadow stands as a shining example of luxury and elegance on the high seas. This magnificent cruise ship is renowned for its impeccable service, breathtaking design, and exceptional attention to detail.

Ship visits are a great way to explore a variety of ships and really get a feel for the product and the cruise line. As a smaller, luxury ship with a smaller amount of guests, it was really interesting for the team to have a look around and get a feel for what Silversea is all about.

As soon as you step foot on the Silver Shadow, you are enveloped in an atmosphere of sophistication and refinement. The ship’s elegant interiors boast a timeless charm, featuring a blend of classic and contemporary design elements. From the polished marble floors to the tastefully curated art pieces adorning the walls, every detail exudes an air of exclusivity.

We started out with a short presentation from Sarah and Helen who introduced us to Silversea as a brand and also spoke a little bit about Silversea Expeditions too. This was a great starter because it allowed our clients a little more insight into what Silversea offer and what they can expect onboard.

Firstly, Food…

We had a look around La Dame. This restaurant does come with a reservation charge of $60 per guest and needs to be booked in advance. This quintessentially Parisian restaurant features a bespoke menu curated by Silversea’s top chefs and takes you on a gastronomic journey through French cuisine and fine wines.

Time for lunch! We ate in the Main Restaurant for lunch. Silver Shadow’s main dining room serves contemporary, international cuisine with sophisticated elegance and impeccable service. Menus also feature regional specialities unique to the voyage destination. The Restaurant aboard this luxury cruise ship offers open-seating dining, which means there are no assigned times, no assigned tables. You are free to dine when, where and with whom you please.

For our lunch, we were treated to a 4 course menu which was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful too.

Exploring Silver Shadow

The afternoon was spent touring the ship. The Silver Shadow is a smaller ship, it hosts 392 guests with 302 crew members. This highlights the luxury experience with nearly a 1:1 ratio of guests and staff. Not to mention, it is one of the highest space-to-guest ratios at sea, meaning there was so much to see and no area felt too crowded.

The Pool Deck was the perfect place to relax during a day at sea or after a busy day in port. There were ample amounts of chaise lounges arranged in either the sun or the shade, accommodating the needs of all guests, whilst being spaced out enough to have some privacy. The pool water is refreshing whilst sailing the hot Caribbean or heated for cooler weather.

We visited the Zagara Beauty Spa which is ideal to relax your body and mind. With a range of revitalising therapies like facials, body wraps and massages, there is something for everyone. The Fitness Centre comes equipped with free weights, weight machines, treadmills, cross trainers and bicycles. Plus, enjoy classes such as yoga, pilates and circuit training led by onboard qualified fitness instructors.

As mentioned earlier, there are so many spaces onboard Silver Shadow to relax, grab a drink and watch the stunning scenery as you sail. The Observation Library, situated at the very top of the ship, is a quiet space for reading and reflecting whilst admiring the wonderful seascapes. The Panorama Lounge is designed to provide uninterrupted views of the day’s destinations whilst unwinding with afternoon tea listening to a pianist. The Connoisseur’s Corner is a hidden terrace which offers exceptional cognacs and a premium selection of cigars for purchase.

Living the Suite Life

The name Owner’s Suite says it all. This is the ultimate suite for unparalleled levels of space, comfort and luxury on board. It is boasts a sizeable lounge with a tv, fully stocked mini bar and seating area to host guests, a walk-in closet and spacious bedroom. Not to mention, a full length balcony.

The Classic Veranda Suite provides a generous living space for guests. With a stunning marble bathroom, seating area and interior comforts, this suite is wonderful for relaxing. Plus, floor-to-ceiling windows add the illusion of extra space that also open up onto a balcony to sit and watch the sea go by.

The stylish and sophisticated Silver Suite is a firm favourite. With separated dining and living rooms, this suite would be perfect to host any guests you might mingle with onboard. these suites are situated midship, can accommodate up to three guests and boasts a larger veranda.

Majestic and distinguished perfectly describes the Royal Suite. This is perfect for entertaining with enough living space to roam. This includes a fully stocked mini bar and Bvlgari toiletries.

Final Thoughts

When we asked our guests what they thought about Silversea and Silver Shadow, this is what they said:

“Silver Shadow is a beautiful ship and I would definitely consider a Silversea cruise. I like the feel of a big ship with the luxury aspects, there are so many places to relax onboard that you don’t feel on top of other guests. You can have your own privacy.” – Lesley MacDonald

“I have cruised on bigger ships previously so this was pleasantly surprising. There are so many amenities onboard and the idea of less guests really appeals to me. I have sailed on a river cruise as well so this ship seems in the middle of the two, I would certainly love to embark on a Silversea cruise”. – Paula McGrath

“The ship is undeniably beautiful, however, the thing that appeals to me the most is the fact that it can explore the smaller, more unique ports. Silversea seems to show you more of the world compared to larger cruise lines”. – Stephen McGrath
