HMS WAG, MSC Cruises, MSC World Europa, Qatar World Cup, World Cup

Take an exclusive, first look inside the £1 billion floating palace, dubbed the HMS WAG, as it docks in Doha, a fitting backdrop, and acts as a base for the WAGs of the Three Lions team during the 2022 World Cup.

DINING & DRINKING

There are plenty of places to get a drink on board. The typically British pub, the Master of the Seas, has its own microbrewery. All matches will also be screened here as well as throughout the ship. The Gin Project serves 70 different distillations and the Fizz Champagne Bar is the place to go for a £400 bottle of bubbly to celebrate a good match result. There is also a teahouse, inspired by Indian interiors, and a coffee emporium.

Enjoy luxury dining at the Chef’s Garden Kitchen where, Michelin-starred chef, Niklas Ekstedt uses micro herbs and salad leaves grown from the first hydroponic garden at sea, in which plants are grown without soil.

Among the 13 different dining options on board are La Pescaderia, aMediterranean fish restaurant, Butcher’s Cut, an American-style steakhouse, Kaito Teppenyaki Grill + Sushi Bar and Hola! Tacos and Cantina. If that’s not enough, there are 3 buffets, including one which is open 24 hours a day, and a pizza & burger venue which serves hot dogs, chicken wings and pretzels.

Things to do onboard

For entertainment, MSC World Europa is home to the fleet’s largest waterpark with 7 pools onboard, a virtual reality slide and the Sportsplex Zone with the likes of a roller disco, bumper cars and a 5D cinema. The vessel always houses 3 venues hosting West End style shows, Ibiza-style nightclubs, pop up performances during the day and DJ pool parties late at night. Not to mention, the invite-only intimate speakeasy, hidden in plain sight, where the WAGs can really let their hair down.

Ride the Venom Drop, an 11-storey stainless steel slide that spirals down to the centre of an open promenade.

During the day, have a shopping spree in the World Galleria’s high-end boutiques teeming with luxury watches, jewellery and handbags. The ceiling is an LED screen boasting incredible cinematic displays from swishing sands to swimming whales.

Luxury MSC Yacht Club

For an ultra-luxury experience, visit the Yacht Club. This exclusive area of the ship is what is being called the ‘HMS WAG’. It includes a two-deck private sun terrace, a private pool and restaurant, 24 hour butler service, a concierge to make dinner reservations plus, a sparkling staircase encrusted with 8,000 Swarovski crystals.

For a pamper after a day of watching football, take a trip to the Aurea Spa. Here you can enjoy a sauna, steam bath, water cave and a snow room. Invest in the Ultimate Hydroderm Facial for 80 minutes of relaxation, setting you back a mere 219€. They also have a barber, hairdresser and nail salon for all your self-care needs.
